All my friends are making wish lists — and I’m making one too

Hi Geezers,

I rang in the new year exactly how I wanted: in my PJs, on the couch, watching 20/20, and asleep by 8pm. Absolute bliss.

At 12:02am, I briefly woke up to the sound of fireworks going off in every direction, remembered what day it was, and promptly fell back asleep for another 7 hours. No regrets.

It’s freeeeeezing in New York City, but that didn’t stop me from driving up to Central Park this morning at 8am — a drive that would usually take 40–50 minutes but today took only 22 (which is why we did it). It snowed overnight so Lottie delighted, I tolerated for her happiness, and then I felt less bad about staying home the rest of the day to read Heart the Lover (a Nora McInerny rec, and she’s right, it’s amazing) and intermittently nap on the couch while the Netflix fireplace roared.

But despite the holiday season wrapping up today, it seems no one is completely shopped out yet. In between snoozes, my group chats were full of my friends sending bags, clothes and shoes to each other for friend opinion and approval.

I guess when the weather outside is frightful, and the digital fire is so delightful…let us shop, let us shop, let us shop.

1. If you somehow don’t have this in your wardrobe yet, the denim shacket is going no where, and GAP has this one on sale right now. I’d get it oversized.
   
2. These shoes are called SeaVees, and they were started in Japan in the 60s, and then they went deadstock, found in a flea market and then brought back to market in California.
   
3. My contribution to the group chat — The Home Coat. Obsessed.
   
4. I have become obsessed with this exfoliator from Dr. Whitney Bowe, and code GEETHANKS works at checkout.
   
5. A friend saw the Coach Empire bag at Woodbury Commons (the outlets about 90 mins north of NYC) and said she gets the hype now. (It was the only bag that wasn’t on sale, she said.)
   
6. We’re always looking for cute socks to wear with Sambas.
   
7. I’ve never heard of this brand but now I’ve been on their site for like, 40 minutes. This sweater is on sale and my friend Lia pulled the trigger.
