This edition of Good for the Geezer is from one of our OG Gee Thanks! heads, Kristen Geil! She just ran the New York City Marathon in November, and she has some really well-researched workout watch/wearable opinions. I asked her to share them with us!
Geezers, hi!
I’m Kristen, a shopping editor for major lifestyle and wellness websites like Shape and GQ. I spend my days scouring the internet for the best deals on walking pads, running shoes, pickleball paddles, and sports bras—and then testing said gear IRL. It’s the perfect job for my Chris Traeger-like compulsion to keep my body moving and my mind occupied at all times to avoid falling into a bottomless pit of despair.
I recently ran the New York Marathon—my fifth!—and throughout training, ran over 500 of the most mid miles you’ve ever seen in your life (I’m built for comfort, not speed). Needless to say, I had plenty of time to try out running watches, fitness trackers, headphones, and recovery accessories. Here’s what I actually think is worth investing in—whether you’re a first-time 5Ker or a seasoned running pro.
